It took me 2 weeks to get back to reality. I still can’t believe that I’ve met, not once but twice, the most amazing human being on this earth. Adore Delano.
Before I start to ramble, let’s get into this.
October 6th, 2017
I’ve been anticipating this day since the moment I entered this fandom. It always felt like a dream that was far far far away from being a reality. If you were to ask me if I ever thought Adore was going to be walking on Argentinian soil, my answer would have been a very emphatic NO.
For me, that possibility only lived in my head, as a figment of my imagination, never in a million years, I thought I’d have the pleasure of singing, from the top of my lungs, any of her tunes with her silhouette dancing in front of me, a couple of centimeters away.
But it did happen and I was excited beyond belief.
I was one of the lucky ones to have scored the 1stM&G as the early birds’ tickets came out before we made the ticketing system site crash. Mind you, they were sold out in 1:20 minutes. See? We kinda love Adore Delano down here.
So, back to it.
Friday night came and as I was getting ready, without quite fully believing I was actually going to meet this lovely human, my adrenaline started pumping, my heart racing. I was the happiest I’ve ever been in a long while. The 30-minute drive to the venue seemed like AGES. When I finally arrived, I saw my girls, Aldie, Lay, and Mely, whom I’ve hugged with the biggest smile on my face. I was lucky enough to share this moment with them, I was next. My mind went blank. All I remember was jumping up and down like an excited 5-year old while I was watching the M&G from the girl in front of me progressed. I got the ‘go ahead’ signal from the promoter and my feet started walking by inertia. I had gifts for John so before entering the ‘cage’ I gave him the bag and told him ‘This is for you. I hope you like it’ he replied ‘That’s so kind of you’.
And then came Adore. ‘Hi, Love. How are you? You are beautiful’ How dare she attacking me like that on our first meet up, right? I look back and want to kick myself, I sounded like a broken record. All I was able to mumble was ‘I love you’ and ‘Thanks for coming’ I gave her the bag with the goodies before and she said ‘By the bag, I already know I’m going to love it’ I replied ‘I know’. And I did, I specifically hunted down a Hello Kitty bag just for her. She hugged me and we took a photo and told me to have fun. We hugged again and, as I said, I told her I loved her and thanks for coming. People were passing, she kept posing. We even got delighted with a Britney Spears lipsync.
As the M&G was over, the wait began.
One hour later, the first chords of ‘Hello, I love you’ started playing and I felt like a billion butterflies fluttering all over my body. She looked stunning, she also missed the cue and asked the DJ to put the track again. She sang we sang along.
I even got the chance to live stream that song and I felt like I was enjoying that moment with my mutuals, I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more at that point. Well, I could have asked for a spare phone battery, but that’s beside the point.
As that song ended, she got chatty. She kept saying how amazing Argentina was, how we all were gorgeous and, of course, that people should track her on a dating app, no matter the gender. She asked John for a sip of her beer and carried on to the next song. She then proceeded to sing ’27 club’ and the crowd was raving.
As she ended, she asked us if we wanted more, a unanimous YES was all that could be heard. She told us to have drinks, party on and she went backstage. Round two started one hour after that.
The second set started with the song I always dreamt of hearing live, I adore U. With a wardrobe change and twice the energy, she sung her vocal chords out. After that song, she got chatty again but this time, to tell us the story behind the track she was about to perform. The song that breaks my heart every time, the one she wrote after AS2, her breakup. Then she proceeded to sing, Pretty Boys Cry. I don’t cry in public, but I’ll be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear, or two, or three hundred.
She thanked us for being awesome, she encouraged us to PARTY and have fun but the best part of that goodbye was where she said ‘See you guys tomorrow for more’. It was 5:30 am as I was heading back home with a slight sore throat but most importantly, with my heart full of joy.
I never fully believed people when they’d say that Adore gives the best hugs until that night.
They are amazing. 20 seconds of a M&G can feel like hours. When she looks into your eyes, it feels like she is staring right into your soul and it feels amazing. I loved her coming in and I left that venue with even more love and admiration for her that I could ever hope so.
I’m telling you if you never have seen her live, I honestly don’t know what you are waiting for.
